In this energetic role, you will be responsible for accurately estimating earthwork costs for commercial construction projects, ensuring competitive pricing while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Duties

  • Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications related to earthwork and site development

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for earthwork activities, including excavation, grading, fill, and material requirements using estimating software such as Agtek, Bid2Win and other software tools

  • Analyze project plans to determine quantities of materials needed and develop accurate pricing strategies based on market rates and company cost data

  • Manage project budgets by monitoring costs throughout the estimation process and implementing effective cost control measures

  • Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams through negotiation to secure optimal pricing and terms

  • Utilize construction management software like Agtek, Bid2Win, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office tools to create comprehensive bid proposals

  • Review construction contracts, scope of work documents, and technical drawings to ensure all aspects of earthwork are accurately estimated and aligned with project goals

  • Conduct site visits when necessary to gather additional information, verify existing conditions, and assess site-specific challenges that impact estimates

Experience

  • Proven experience in managing projects as a construction estimator within the commercial construction industry, specifically focusing on earthwork or site development projects

  • Strong proficiency with estimating software such as Agtek and Bid2Win programs used for detailed cost analysis

  • Extensive knowledge of construction drawing review, blueprint reading, and interpreting technical drawings related to earthwork activities

  • Familiarity with construction management software including Bluebeam for document markup and collaboration purposes

  • Demonstrated ability in cost management, material cost estimating, pricing strategies, and estimating construction project budgets effectively

  • Hands-on experience with construction site activities and understanding of field conditions that influence project estimates

  • Excellent communication skills for client negotiations, contract review, and coordinating with project teams on technical requirements
